Tell Gov. Branstad to veto Voter ID!

Every eligible voter should have access to the ballot box. But Iowa could pass a new bill (House File 516) that requires voters to show specific forms of government-issued identification at the polls and will roll-back in-person absentee early voting.

Tell Gov. Branstad to veto House File 516.

The right to vote and access to the ballot box is a fundamental American ideal. In order to strengthen our democracy, voting needs to be convenient, safe, and accessible to all eligible voters. Election Day is the great equalizer in our democracy, when each individual's' voice and vote truly have equal value. Bills like House File 516 suppress voter turn-out with their complicated and confusing requirements. That diminishes our democracy.
