Thank Gov. Brown for his leadership on voting rights

felony voteThis past weekend, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law AB 1461 (Gonzalez), the New Motor Voter Act, and SB 439 (Allen), a critical ballot access bill.

AB 1461 will streamline the voter registration process for up to 6.6 million eligible voters and SB 439 will allow counties to set up satellite offices that offer same-day registration (SDR) and voting in the fourteen days before an election.

These bills are huge steps forward to reducing unnecessary barriers to voting and their passage is a major victory for democracy. Please take a moment to thank Governor Brown for his leadership on increasing access to voting!

Thank you for your leadership on voting rights

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a Common Cause member, I wanted to thank you for your leadership on voting rights by signing into law AB 1461, the New Motor Voter Act, and SB 439 (Allen), a critical ballot access bill.

AB 1461 will streamline the voter registration process for up to 6.6 million eligible voters and SB 439 will allow counties to set up satellite offices that offer same-day registration (SDR) and voting in the fourteen days before an election.

California now leads the way in reducing barriers to voter registration, one of the clearest policy changes that can be made to increase voter turnout. And with the implementation of these new programs, our state has demonstrated its commitment to promoting 100% voter participation.

This is a true victory for democracy and for citizens like myself. Thank you.

Sincerely,
