Join Us in Supporting Walk Strong Across America on July 4, 2021
We're proud to once again join Cure JM in the 2nd Annual Walk Strong Across America 2021. This is a virtual walk on July 4th, 2021 for which we are raising money on behalf of Violet and other Cure JM kids and families to fund vital Juvenile Myositis research.
This year all donations will again be matched by the Leetz Family Match.
We are excited to share that as a result of your past support, Cure JM is working with Duke University Children's Hospital and ReveraGen, the makers of vamorolone, on a clinical trial to test the safety and effectiveness of the drug in children with JDM. Vamorolone is what could be called the "anti-steroid steroid." It is a drug with all of the benefits of prednisone and virtually none of the side effects.
Steroids are an essential life-saving part of the treatment of JM kids, but the long-and-short term side effects can be devastating. Nausea, weight gain, high blood pressure, facial swelling, are only some of the things the kids have to bear. Steroids were an especially hard part of Violet's treatment and she may need them again someday, so this research and this trial is deeply important and personal for our family.
We understand that not everyone is in a position to give at the moment. But please know that all help is welcome and appreciated, and no amount of giving is too small.
If this isn't the right time for a donation, please feel free to share the page with anyone who might want to help.
Thank you for your consideration and for your support of Violet and all the JM kids and families.
