In August of 2018 Landen was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease known as Juvenile Dermatomyositis. Prior to the start of an intensive treatment Landen's body began attacking itself. First with a rash over every part of his part and then the muscle weakness started. It wasn't long before he could hardly walk and that's when we knew it was serious and he needed treatment ASAP. He was admitted to Seattle Children's where he stayed for 3 days and began an intensive treatment plan. We have been lucky enough to have been able to wean him from the steroids and IVIG however Landen is still on immune suppressants that keep his body from attacking itself. Doing these virtual walks and fundraisers help us to raise money, the money that is so desperately needed for research. There is no cure for JDM, yet and that is what we hope to change through all of this.
Thank you SO much for your continued support, it truly means the world.
We are participating in the 2nd annual Walk Strong Across America.
We invite you to show your support by making a gift and walking with us on or before July 4th - from the comfort of your home, in your yard, or around your neighborhood.
Cure JM families, friends and supporters are coming together to raise $750,000 for Juvenile Myositis research. Reaching this important milestone will help ensure no promising research is left on the table in 2021.
Gifts will be matched by the Leetz Family Match. Every dollar makes a difference and gifts will be put straight to work to advance research for better treatments, better care, and, ultimately, a cure.
We are so grateful for your support.
