Join Us for the Walk Strong Across America to Cure JM - 2020
We're participating in Walk Strong to Cure JM in honor of our 12 year old son Geno, as well as our 10 year old son Kellen - whom has been through all of the difficult times too. Geno was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) in Feb 2017 at the age of 9, and has spent the past 3 years undergoing treatments, taking many different meds, having every test imaginable, traveling back and forth monthly to Boston Children's Hospital, battling anxiety and stress, changing schools to accommodate his medical and emotional needs, and so much more. Early in Geno's disease, Kellen (and we) was unsure if Geno would ever come home from the hospital - it was shocking for him to see his big brother ravished and unable to walk. Thankfully Geno has persevered through it all, and his body has responded well to his treatments, which is unfortunately more than can be said for thousands of other JM/JDM kids across the world. Even with the various medicines and treatments for our JM kids, there is still NO CURE...yet.
But with emotional, physical and financial support from friends and family like you, we’re getting closer to better treatments and a cure.
All proceeds benefit Cure JM Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for Juvenile Myositis, a life-threatening autoimmune disease that Geno has, which causes the body’s own immune system to attack healthy cells and tissues. It can affect virtually any system of the body, the heart, lungs, skin, muscles, and more.
With continued support from families and friends, Cure JM has been able to fund research at 20 prestigious research institutions, helping advance JM research at an unprecedented pace!
Your gift now will keep that momentum going. Every donation goes straight to Cure JM, and since inception over 90% of all funds raised go directly to research.
And please remember, when you donate to Cure JM, you're not just helping the children affected by the disease - you are also helping the brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, grandparents and more, to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Join the team and fight against JM/JDM today!
