The DBSA online meeting rooms and the DBSA online support groups are provided as a service to site visitors. 

Discussion of any particular medication or treatment strategy during meetings or support groups in the online meeting rooms does not indicate endorsement from DBSA. DBSA does not endorse or recommend the use of any specific treatment or medication for mood disorders. For advice about specific treatments or medications, individuals should consult their health care provider(s).

Information posted in the online meeting rooms is the opinion of other users and should not take the place of consultation with your health provider. Do not stop taking your medication or alter your treatment plan without first consulting your health care provider(s).

Information posted in the online meeting rooms is not confidential. All messages posted in these rooms are assigned to and become the property of DBSA and may be reused for other purposes without the author's prior consent.

The entire contents of the DBSA website and the online meeting rooms, including graphics, logos, documents, databases, and other information is the property of the DBSA or has been used by DBSA with permission.

Online support groups are overseen by a volunteer facilitator. While posted messages are not edited by DBSA, DBSA and its agents reserve the right, but are not obligated, to monitor postings and disallow postings that we believe to be inappropriate, inaccurate, or in conflict with the views of DBSA, without prior consent from the author.

By using the online meeting rooms, the user agrees to indemnify and hold DBSA, its staff, and its agents, harmless from and against any liability, claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) relating to any acts or omissions by users or to materials or information transmitted by users in connection with the use of the online meeting rooms or DBSA online support groups.

Posting any of the following may result in deletion of the post and termination of your ability to use the DBSA online meeting rooms and/or online support groups:

  • Derogatory or offensive remarks directed towards other users
  • Sexual content
  • Argumentative messages or messages that are posted for the sole purpose of starting or maintaining arguments with other users
  • Messages used to conduct or encourage any illegal activities, including software infringement, spreading computer viruses, gambling, distribution of pornography, or other illegal activities
  • Messages used to upload, post, email, transmit, or otherwise make available any material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable
  • Messages that appear to impersonate any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity
  • Messages used to conduct polls, research or otherwise gather information from users, or that contain advertising, product promotion, or promotion of professional services, clinical trials, research, or links

When deemed appropriate at its sole discretion, DBSA may provide user information, including identifying information that may have been entered into the site by the user, to authorized law enforcement agencies.

For the purposes of the DBSA online support groups, user information, including email address, may be provided to the designated support group facilitator(s) so that they may contact users in regards to the support group.

DBSA reserves the right to modify or change the rules of the online meeting rooms or online support groups without prior notification to current or new users.

By using these online meeting rooms, you agree with all the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Use of these online meeting rooms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Users consent to be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Cook County, Illinois, in the event of any dispute between the parties.
