Donor Privacy PolicyIntroductionThe Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is a nonprofit organization committed to hope, help, support, and education to improve the lives of people who have mood disorders. All donations solicited on behalf of DBSA shall be used to further this mission. Funds shall be solicited in a respectful manner and without pressure. Donor-designated restrictions on contributions accepted by DBSA shall be honored. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and contributions made to the organization are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Written tax receipts shall be issued for all donations. If the donor receives anything in exchange for their donation, such as a dinner or event admission, the tax receipt shall clearly state what portion of the donation is tax deductible. Donor Privacy PolicyAny information supplied to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance by donors will be used solely to fulfill their donation and shall not be shared for any reason. All requests to remain anonymous shall be honored. DBSA does not sell or share donor lists. Our web site uses donation forms from donors to support our program. Donors who supply DBSA with their mailing address, email address or phone number may be contacted periodically for solicitation purposes and/or with information regarding upcoming events and announcements. All donors have the option of being placed on a "once-a-year" mailing list which grants DBSA permission to contact them only once per year. Donors may request to be permanently removed from DBSA’s mailing and email list by contacting us via email, phone or postal mail. All requests to be removed from DBSA’s mailing list shall be honored. Donors who supply DBSA with their telephone number shall only be contacted by telephone regarding donations they have made. DBSA does not participate in telephone fundraising activities. SecurityDBSA takes every precaution to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information by using industry-recognized security safeguards such as firewalls, coupled with carefully developed security procedures to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. When we ask for sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, we protect it through the use of encryption during transmission, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. DBSA reinforces the importance of our website visitors' security and privacy among our employees. Our employees are trained and required to safeguard your information and, using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, we restrict access to personal information to those employees and agents for business purposes only. DBSA is a not-for-profit Illinois corporation qualified under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All gifts are deductible based on federal IRS regulations.
