Facilitate Success Support Group Facilitator Training

For more than 25 years, DBSA has been running successful peer-led support groups focused on hope, recovery, and strategies for living well despite mental health challenges. Using an interactive approach, DBSA facilitator training develops key knowledge, skills and attitudes for both practicing and prospective support group facilitators.

Training begins with basic facilitation principles and skills with a focus on opportunities for practice and dialogue. The training continues with advanced recovery-orientation training, person-centered approaches, and an underlying motivational framework that empowers participants to fulfill their potential as the best facilitators they can be. DBSA provides free facilitator training to our local chapters as funding is available. For a fee, we will also provide facilitator training for organizations or groups. Let us share our knowledge and lessons learned with you, your organization, or facility.

Two Ways to Participate

  1. Training for DBSA chapters or support groups: If your DBSA chapter is interested in sponsoring an on-site facilitator training course, you may request information from a member of the DBSA Chapters staff.

  2. Sponsor a facilitator training course in your area: DBSA trains groups on a contract basis, and we can customize training to meet local needs. Request information from a DBSA staff member.
