DR Fellows & Friends
On Sunday, October 21, we, three Damon Runyon fellows, friends Kathryn Taylor, Anupam Chakravarty, and Kathrin Leppek, will participate in Runyon Up, the first charitable stair climb to be held at Salesforce Tower – the tallest building in San Francisco. We'll get to climb to the 61st Floor in an effort to pledge our support for cancer research.
The motto of Damon Runyon has long been to discover the talent to discover the cure for the scourge that is cancer. 100% of the money we raise will be used by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation to fund innovative research by today's most brilliant young scientists, who are racing to find the causes and cures for all types of cancer.
The Foundation has longstanding partnerships with leading local research institutions, with nearly 30% of its current funding going to the Bay Area. Over the past 71 years, Damon Runyon has granted nearly $63 million to top young scientists at Stanford, UCSF, UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz. More than 200 scientists have received funding from Damon Runyon work in the Bay Area, in both academia and biopharma.
Our connection to this incredible foundation is rather personal. We've been part of the scientific family of Damon Runyon as postdoctoral fellows at Stanford University for the past few years.
Please make a donation that supports our climb and help Damon Runyon scientists reach new heights in the fight against cancer. If you are in the area and up for a run(yon) to the top, please feel free to join our team as well.
You can choose the amount you want to give – all donations are gratefully received!
Thank you all for your support.
