Project Inspire

Devereux Florida offers prevention/intervention services through its Project INSPIRE (Interventions Nurturing Self-confident and Productive Interactions through Relationship Evolvement). Project INSPIRE provides assessment, crisis intervention, case management, individual, group, and family counseling, as well as follow-up services.

These client-centered services target youth who are at risk for delinquency, running away, truancy and/or other troubled behavior. Named in Florida Statues as "Children/Families In Need of Services" (CINS/FINS), these youth and their families are eligible for free, state-sponsored, juvenile crime prevention services funded through the Department of Juvenile Justice. To be eligible, the youth must be between the ages of 10 and 17.

The Project INSPIRE team delivers services to youth and families in a culturally-competent manner illustrating compassion and sensitivity to the diverse needs of Broward County residents. In doing so, services are offered in multiple settings throughout the community. Such settings include the office, community centers, schools and in the home.

Kids Club

Kids' Club is a therapeutic after-school program funded by the Orange County Citizens' Commission for Children. Staffed by Master's level therapists, Kids' Club is located at Orange Center Elementary School. The program serves students who live in an area with many environmental stressors such as poverty and crime. A high percentage of the students are Haitian and struggle with language, cultural and immigration issues as well.

Kids' Club provides a safe, structured, supervised environment for these kids, many of whom consider the program a second family. The program focuses heavily on academics and mental/behavioral health issues - providing mentoring, tutoring, social skills training, recreational therapy and individual and group therapy.
