Flora's "Virtual" Crew
Welcome to Flora's Crew - a team page set up to honor my beloved and missed mother - Flora (AKA Mom, Granny, and Great-Gran). Flora was treated for cancer at Winship in early her 50s and lived a vibrant life through the age of 89. What a gift those years were to all who loved her.
"Think positive -- there's no other way," Flora would say. Those who were blessed to spend time with my mother were always left enriched in some way by her wisdom and loving insight. She believed in handwritten notes, including personal messags in her Christmas cards, even if it took weeks to complete. She was a gifted artist who received her bachelor's degree in Art History when she was grandmother. Her canvass of choice was her yard, with a living watercolor painting of trumpets, hydrangeas, camellias, and azaleas. She never met a cat or a hummingbird that did not take up residence at her house. Nothing made her happier than a gathering of family and friends, with her most precious times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchilren.
Winship Cancer Institute holds a special place in our hearts - for giving us all those years from the 1970s-2009. I invite you to join Flora's crew and make a difference alongside me with a donation of any amount.
Cancer has not stopped for the pandemic, and so we must walk on! Thank you for joining Flora's "Virtual" Crew and for joining us in offering hope in the fight against cancer.
