Meredith Brown is a survivor of biliary atresia and a liver transplant. When Meredith was diagnosed at 7 weeks old (March 31, 2017) with a rare pediatric liver disease, we heard the words biliary atresia along with “cause and cure unknown.”
This fund is intended to honor Meredith’s courageous fight against the relentless disease of biliary atresia. There is far too little research and funding for the disease, and that is unacceptable.
Funds from the Meredith Brown fund for Biliary Atresia Research go directly to Dr. Saul Karpen at Emory, who is also Meredith’s primary hepatologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Karpen and his team is conducting ground breaking medical research in the field of pediatric liver disease. It is our goal to raise as much money as it takes to find a cause of biliary atresia and a better treatment plan than organ transplantation.
Thank you for supporting our mission in fighting against BA and honoring Meredith. To learn more about Meredith’s journey and Dr. Karpen’s research visit: http://news.web.emory.edu/stories/2019/02/biliary_atresia_karpen/index.html
