Welcome to Team Tara for FARA!
As many of you know, Tara has a disease called Friedreich's Ataxia (FA), which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy. FA is a debilitating, life shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. Tara was diagnosed at the age of 15 and at that time was still walking and attending high school. Now, mine years later at the age of 24, she is in a wheelchair full time.
This disease is progressing every minute of every day. We need a treatment or a cure and we need one fast!
Hard to believe that on November 10th, this will be the 8th annual Ride Ataxia cycling event! From the first ride in 2011, the Orlando/Clermont ride has raised over $665,000 and we have increased the cyclist participation from 209 to over 400 participants.
Without FARA and these amazing fundraisers there wouldn't be clinical trials available for Tara and so many others. We are getting closer and closer every single day with the help of people such as yourselves. I know the day will come when their will be a cure or treatment for Tara and the others who suffer from Friedreich's Ataxia and we will have all of you to thank! The funds raised for this event will go directly to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) to fight for a cure.
We would be honored if you could come and ride in the event, volunteer, donate and spread the word to friends and family about this wonderful cause.
Please come out this year and be part of something amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
