Christina's Annual 5K Event - Justin's Page
I am fundraising to help support research for Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), a debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. About one in 50,000 people in the United States have Friedreich's ataxia. Onset of symptoms can vary from childhood to adulthood. Childhood onset of FA is usually between the ages of 5 and 15 and tends to be associated with a more rapid progression. Late onset FA (LOFA) can occur anytime during adulthood. FARA is supporting research that will improve the quality and length of life for those diagnosed with Friedreich's ataxia and will lead to treatments that eliminate its symptoms.
My wife, Christina, fights this rare disease everyday. Although FA can make things very difficult for Christina she continues to be very strong and positive. Christina doesn't let the disease get in the way of what she wants to accomplish. Christina has a full time job at Hyatt at the Bellevue, recently completed her Masters from Johnson & Wales, and makes a difference in people's lives especially mine. I don't know of anyone more inspiring! I battle a rare disease as well and she keeps me positive everyday.
This year's 5K event takes place on Sunday, May 12th at Tyler State Park. Come join us for a fun filled day with great people!
Please support my efforts to find treatments and a cure for FA!
