Event Description
There is a fairly straightforward formula for career success: hard work and delivering quality performance.
Or is it? The most misunderstood issue in building a career is the belief in a one-dimensional meritocracy. Yet, so many of us simply keep our heads down and do a great job, believing we will eventually be recognised for our talents. The truth is that in order to enjoy the career you want to have and deserve to have, you've got to own it. No one knows you better than you and by owning your future you can shape it in a way that suits you best - keeping in mind of course the opportunities and trends happening in your organisation & industry. There is an easy way to go about this - without adding more hours to your already long day - but it does require a fresh approach and a new way of thinking.
Join this highly interactive workshop led by GW alumnae Christine Brown-Quinn, GWSB MBA '92 and Nicole Brigandi, CCAS BA '05 to discover:
- How to build a career versus just doing 'the job'
- Why speaking up about your interest & career goals helps you & your company
- How to align your skills & talents to the company's future growth
- Why courage & risk taking are crucial to career development & progression
- The five key business-savvy strategies that really matter to career progression
