In this program, museum educator Jake Flack takes you on a virtual tour of Ford’s Theatre and Civil War Washington. Discover what Washington, D.C., was like for President Abraham Lincoln and some of the people he met and knew in the city. Learn more about President Lincoln’s assassination at Ford’s Theatre and consider his legacy. In this interactive program, participants will look closely at historical and contemporary images including maps, photographs and illustrations.
About Jake Flack
Jake Flack is the associate director of museum education at Ford's Theatre. He develops and manages all aspects of the student visit program with a focus on D.C. Public Schools students and teachers. He also oversees the summer professional development programs, Civil War Washington and Set in Stone, which brings teachers to Washington to learn about Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War and Reconstruction. A native Washingtonian and K–12 graduate of D.C. Public Schools, Flack has a particular interest in engaging local students and teachers in the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. He is also a highly regarded musician and band leader.
