D.C. Mondays: Identity, Experience and Memories of Household Staff at the Heurich House

Jenna Febrizio

Monday, March 8th

12pm EST

Explore the American Dream at the Heurich House Museum. While Christian Heurich’s “rags-to-riches” story has often been the focus of his historic house museum, there are many other people whose hard work made his achievements possible.

Education Manager Jenna Febrizio and the team at Heurich House have pieced together stories of household staff who worked for the family but are typically left out of the historical narrative. This information changes the way history is interpreted and makes a more holistic and equitable connection to the past.

About Jenna Febrizio

She is also a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where her dissertation research examines German immigrants in the 20th-century U.S. art world.
