Over the course of 200 years any educational institute is bound to have a few bumps in the road, and the George Washington University is no exception. Since the signing of Columbian College’s charter on February 9, 1821, GW has survived domestic and international wars, three campus moves, and a number of financial crises. This talk by University Archivist Brigette Kamsler will celebrate GW’s bicentennial year by exploring the endurance of the university, its students and its staff.
About Brigette Kamsler
Brigette C. Kamsler is a professional archivist with extensive experience in the non-profit, educational and corporate realms. She has a bachelor’s in History from Millersville University and a master’s of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she specialized in archives, preservation and records management. She served as archivist at the Historical Society of Frederick County, Maryland; the Burke Library at Columbia University’s Union Theological Seminary in New York; and HSBC.
