Celebrating 200 Years: Thurston Hall Reimagined

Location

Online via Zoom

Event Description

Thurston

For more than 50 years, Thurston Hall has played a central role in campus life through thousands of relationships, stories, and shared memories. Named for the first female undergraduate student at GW, Mabel Nelson Thurston, AB 1891, AM 1893, it has developed a stature on campus unlike any other. In 2020, GW began renovations to Thurston that will create a physically and mentally healthy place for the nearly 40% of first-year undergraduate students that call Thurston home while at GW.

Join the GW community to celebrate the legacy of this iconic residence hall, and get a sneak peak at the redesign renderings. This event includes a screening of the next installment of the GW’s Bicentennial Film Series, “1900 F,” followed by a moderated conversation on how its new design will help foster what Thurston does best — build community for generations of GW students past, present, and future.

This event will take place via Zoom and log-in information will be sent closer to the event. Please note that this event will take place at 4:00pm ET.

The George Washington University’s bicentennial is an incredible, historic milestone. With 27,000+ students from more than 135 countries, a worldwide community of 300,000+ living alumni, and thousands of faculty and staff, the GW community is coming together to celebrate 200 years of phenomenal growth.
