Event Description

Join fellow alumni for an Alumni in Retail & Fashion Industry Network conversation featuring Ruthie Garelik, ESIA BA '07, Executive Director, HR Business Partner at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., as she discusses industry topics such as remote hiring, how job needs have changed, and the future of the industry from an HR perspective.

The discussion will be moderated by alumna Sarah Vreeland (CCAS '07), founder and principle of Katilu and chair of the Retail & Fashion Industry Leadership Council. The conversation will be followed by a brief Q&A session with Ruthie.

rsz_ruthiegarelick.jpgRuthie Garelik, ESIA BA '07, is an HR leader with the Estée Lauder Companies (ELC). After graduating from GW in 2007, she joined AIESEC, an international non-profit, living in Ecuador, Colombia, and the Netherlands. During that time, Ruthie led sales and marketing efforts to garner corporate investment for development and cross-border internship programs across 120 countries. After settling back in New York, she led Business Development and Operations for Futurethink, LLC, an innovation and change management consulting start-up. Ruthie then pivoted to the HR function and joined ELC in 2016 as the change management lead of a global HR IT project. She has since held several HR roles in the corporation, including Chief of Staff to the CHRO, Strategy lead, PMO, and HR Business Partner supporting a global brand, regional portfolio and now the Global IT Function. Ruthie also regularly advises on resume writing, job hunts and trains on job readiness both at ELC and externally pro-bono.
