Join us in Boston for a reception and intimate conversation with Dean Reuben Brigety on "The Future of America's Strategic Alliances." We are at an inflection point in history, with the United States looking increasingly inward amidst a plethora of global challenges, including climate change, trade wars, and an uncertain future for the North Atlantic Alliance. Dean Brigety will discuss the current state of play and provide perspective on how these challenges and others are influencing the future of America's strategic alliances.
Ambassador Reuben E. Brigety II is Dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. He most recently served as the appointed Representative of the United States of America to the African Union and Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN Economic Commission for Africa. Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Brigety served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of African Affairs with responsibility for Southern African and Regional Security Affairs. He has also served as Director of the Sustainable Security Program at the Center for American Progress, Special Assistant in the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance at USAID, and Senior Advisor for Development and Security to the U.S. Central Command Assessment Team.
Ambassador Brigety is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a recipient of the Council’s International Affairs Fellowship.
