Virtual Film Club:The True Cost

Lori Kartchner, Curator of Education

Join our museum community online for a discussion of the film The True Cost, a groundbreaking documentary film from 2015 that pulled back the curtain on the story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? The conversation will be led by our Curator of Education Lori Kartchner. We hope to see you there!

About the Film

Many of us are trying to be thoughtful about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the fashion industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film from 2015 that pulled back the curtain on the story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? In our discussion, we will explore ways we can change our own habits and love our textiles longer. (Bullfrog Films, 2015, 92 minutes)

How to Participate

To participate, watch the film at your leisure before Thursday, November 19th. The film is available to stream on Amazon Prime. Click HERE to view. We will email you a link and instructions for joining our group discussion online.
