Museums Today: Championing the Empathetic Museum

Melanie A. Adams and Gretchen Jennings

Wednesday, September 16

6pm EDT

Explore the concept of the Empathetic Museum in this online discussion led by Melanie Adams, director of the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum, and Gretchen Jennings, who initiated the Empathetic Museum idea. Adams will speak about her efforts at the Missouri History Museum in the wake of Michael Brown's death, which served as an early inspiration for identifying institutional empathy. Jennings will join her to discuss the characteristics of a museum that prioritizes institutional empathy.
