About the Project

GOAL INCREASED: Thanks to an overwhelming response we have increased our goal to $5,500.
The University recently designated a town house on the Foggy Bottom Campus, 2035 F Street, NW, as space for a centralized military resource and community center. The goal of the Military Resource and Community Center is to enrich the support for military affiliated students by creating a space that serves the different on-campus military organizations such as student groups, ROTC, and formal U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefit processing offices. In addition to providing formal resources, the center aims to serve as a space to promote community engagement, offering military affiliated students a network of support from each other and university staff and providing a home away from home on campus. The GW Vets are leading efforts to fundraise for much-needed cosmetic enhancements to common space in the townhouse. Funding will go toward creating a comfortable common area within the Military Resource and Community Center that students are able to utilize for studying, hosting student organization activities, relaxing, and socializing. In order to make the space comfortable and immediately usable by students, the GW Vets hope to install televisions, computers, decorations, and small kitchen appliances such as a coffee maker and refrigerator.
