Give-A-Gift is a signature George Washington University tradition in which all members of the GW community -- students, faculty, staff and alumni -- provide holiday gifts to families in need in Washington, D.C.

For 25 years, the GW community has stepped forward to support our neighbors with gifts for the holidays. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to collect and distribute physical gifts, so this year we are hosting a fundraiser to continue our support of the D.C. community. Please contribute to this GW tradition!

How it Works

Participating individuals and teams can make donations in increments of $30.

  • A $30 donation will provide an individual one gift
  • A $60 donation will provide two individuals one gift
  • A $90 donation will provide three individuals (in many cases one family) one gift each
  • Each multiple of $30 will provide an individual one gift

Families and the gifts they request are identified by Washington, DC nonprofit partners including Academy of Hope, CentroNia, Latin American Youth Center, Housing Up!, and DC Department of Human Services.

Depending on their age and what they request, the gift provided may be clothing, a toy, a household item, or an educational gift.

Please talk with your office, your team, or your student organization and come together to support our DC neighbors. By sharing the costs equitably among members, it becomes much more affordable to spread extra holiday cheer to the D.C. community.

Please consider supporting a family or two!

We will collect donations through Friday, December 11, 2020 to allow our partners time to distribute gifts to families.
