Groundwork Course: Intermediate Series - September 9, 16, 23 and 30 - 9am-1pm

Groundwork classes focus on the study of horse behavior and body language to improve your horsemanship through communication and understanding of the horse. Classes use natural horsemanship training techniques for the ultimate goal of developing a calmer, more trusting and more willing partner in your horse. Horses are taught in a relaxed, well-organized environment with small class sizes. Students will work in pairs with assigned Longmeadow horses, supervised at all times by the instructor.

The intermediate class is designed to teach you how to communicate with horses of varying ages, breeds, temperaments and skill levels. During this four-week session, students will build off of the skills learned previously in the Introductory Level Class. This includes round pen work, desensitizing horses to novel stimuli, lateral movement including over obstacles, disengaging hindquarters to the left and right, handling a horse’s hooves, and more.

PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If you decide not to attend the class date in which you are registered, your payment will be used for the animals in our non-profit facility. You may also switch to another class session if there is still room in that class. If you are uncertain whether this class is the right fit, you are welcome to audit a class for the $25 audit fee.

  • Completion of the Introductory Level Groundwork Class is required prior to enrolling for this course.
