Dear [Decision Maker],

As a constituent and advocate with the Hydrocephalus Association, I am asking you to support and recognize September as Hydrocephalus Awareness Month and to also join and support the work of the Congressional Pediatric and Adult Hydrocephalus Caucus.

Representatives Chris Smith and Lloyd Doggett, chairs of the Congressional Pediatric and Adult Hydrocephalus Caucus, support September as Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. This month highlights the many challenges that the condition poses for patients, their families, and the country as a whole. Among other things, the month brings awareness to the following facts: over one-million Americans live with the condition; one in 770 babies develop hydrocephalus; a form of hydrocephalus develops in seniors for unknown reasons and is often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or a related dementia; and, the only treatment for the condition is brain surgery.

I am asking you to demonstrate your support for hydrocephalus patients, families, and caregivers in our district by learning more about hydrocephalus and also joining the Congressional Pediatric and Adult Hydrocephalus Caucus.

Sincerely,
