Dear [Decision Maker],

As a constituent and sometime who cares about people with hydrocephalus, I am asking you to support a topline number of $51.303 billion for the FY 2025 NIH budget.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) are responsible for conducting and facilitating life-saving research for hydrocephalus and its treatments. Currently there are over 1 million individuals that have been diagnosed with hydrocephalus and there is no known cure. The only treatment is through a shunt, a medical device permanently implanted in the ventricles of the brain, which have the highest failure rate of any implanted medical device.

By increasing the NIH budget, there will be more research grants dedicated to groundbreaking research that seeks to find alternative treatment methods and eventually a cure for those in the hydrocephalus community.

Sincerely,
