Please consider joining our team and WALK with us to end hydrocephalus. You can join us in DC or at a walking site near you. You can write your own letter and contact your own friends or you can connect them to this site. This event is very dear to our hearts as we are walking on behalf of those who may have been told they have Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease or are, perhaps, “just old.”  Instead, they may have Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (which is not normal at all) and, with surgery, could be cured. But the “cure” is not always easy since many of those living with hydrocephalus have a constant fear that another brain surgery is around the corner. The most common treatment for this condition with its abnormal accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt. Sadly, shunts sometimes need adjusting or replacing. More research is needed to improve that treatment.
