Welcome to Amy's 2020 HA WALK Page
Dear Friends & Family,
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with a condition called hydrocephalus at the age of 17. Hydrocephalus is an abnormal accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid in the brain and can be caused by many different things. In my case, I have a structural blockage in my brain that causes the build-up. Over 1mil patients in the US alone are suffering from hydrocephalus, and many of those are children. The only treatment for hydrocephalus is brain surgery, often repeated again and again... I have had 30 brain surgeries in the past 22 years-- 24 of those since 2013.
Right now, we are living in unprecedented times of difficulty, and it's a hard time to ask for monetary support. But the Hydrocephalus Association, who supports so many families and individuals battling this condition and fuels the majority of the research being done on hydrocephalus, has taken a huge hit in the current economic climate. If you are able to help out, it is much appreciated. And if you are not, it is understood.
In addition to my financial contribution, I am pledging to walk 20 MILES PER WEEK for the remainder of 2020. This means my goal is 320 miles before 12/31/20. I'll be posting about my progress on social media, so you can follow along. Even if you aren't able to physically run or walk, please join me in my challenge, and make a goal to remind us of the daily fight so many patients are engaged in.
If you make a specific goal, message me and tell me about it!
Here's to the relentless pursuit of everything that's important,
