Team Dean!
Hello! Welcome to Team Dean! We are so excited that this year we get to walk together! Join Team Dean, and walk with us October 6th!
Support us as we WALK to End Hydrocephalus! As you may know, hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years. Hydrocephalus is also the number one reason for brain surgeries in children. Dean is six years old and has already had two brain surgeries!
A shunt is not a cure, as many patients endure multiple brain surgeries throughout their lifetime, some more than 100. Imagine life knowing that the next brain surgery lurks around the corner because your shunt could fail at any moment. No one should have to live like this.
Dean's hydrocephalus has lead him to have other health issues and diagnosis including developmental delay, sleep apnea, epilepsy, and needing a feeding tube.
This is WHY WE WALK and why we need your support. Please donate, share to your friends, SPREAD AWARENESS and help me reach my goal. There are still so many people out their who have never heard of hydrocephalus. Your donations and shares are greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of people living with hydrocephalus.
Thank you!
