Welcome to Team Noa's Fundraising Page
As many of you know, Noa was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus a few months after being born. She was born 9 weeks early and suffered from a brain bleed. This bleed caused a blockage where Noa's cerebral spinal fluid should flow and caused her to develop hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years. Noa had a shunt placed on September 4, 2020. Noa is now four years brain surgery free!
A shunt is not a cure, as many patients endure multiple brain surgeries throughout their lifetime, some more than 100. Nobody should need to live not knowing when their next brain surgery is.
As a result of Noa's brain bleed and hydrocephalus, Noa has struggled with hypotonic CP. She works so hard in all of her therapies. We are so proud of her!
Donations are wonderful, but what we really care about is your support and prayers regarding Noa and her hydrocephalus! There is a lot of research to be done and we'd love to see alternative treatment plans or smarter ways to control hydrocephalus to limit the amount of brain surgeries!
Ultimately God is in control of Noa's hydrocephalus. We still are praying for full healing. God is in the business of performing miracles.
Love, Taylor, Lindsay, Penny, Noa and RJ
