As you may know, Hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain.
This condition is not exclusive to infants or children, adults can be diagnosed with this condition
from minor trauma to the brain and/or skull. That means that any one of us could wake up tomorrow and have a doctor tell us that we have Hydrocephalus and will need surgery to help with the symptoms.
The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years. Brain surgery and a shunt is not a cure as it’s consistent failures lead to multiple brain surgeries over a patient’s lifetime, in some cases 100 or more. This is unacceptable and this is WHY WE DANCE for NO MORE BS; NO MORE BRAIN SURGERIES.
Please join our team or a local team in your area, donate and help us reach our goal. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of people living with Hydrocephalus.
