Welcome to Scott's Fundraising Page
Anyone at any age can develop hydrocephalus, a life-altering, life-threatening condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), resulting in pressure on the brain. Scott's developed soon after birth. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt. Scott's life-saving implant occurred when he was almost 6-weeks old and barely weighed 3 pounds.
Sadly, a shunt is not a cure, as device failures are very common and lead to multiple brain surgeries over a patient’s lifetime. In some cases 100 or more. Scott was admitted into ER for his first and only revision at 9 months on Amber's first Mother's Day. We keep a watchful eye on Scott daily hoping and praying there are no more issues with his shunt.
We believe no infant, child, or adult should live in constant fear of needing yet another brain surgery.
