THIS IS YEAR 13 FOR TEAM BEN!!!!
We are walking on behalf of Benjamin, who has been living with hydrocephalus since suffering a stroke prior to his birth in 2012. We worry that his shunt could fail at any time. For anyone who has met Ben, you know that he is a bright light in this world!
Hydrocephalus is a life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of fluid resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years - Ben's failed when he was six months old. A shunt is not a cure; its consistent failures lead to multiple brain surgeries over a patient’s lifetime. Anyone want to have an unexpected brain surgery next week? This is our reality, it is unacceptable and this is WHY WE WALK. The funds we raise go directly toward research
Please join our team, donate, volunteer, walk with us and help us reach our goal! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of people living with hydrocephalus, especially Ben.
Thank you!
