Please join Team Oliver and WALK with us to End Hydrocephalus! Hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF), resulting in dangerous pressure on the brain. Today, no cure for Hydrocephalus exists.

Oliver has Obstructive Hydrocephalus. The only treatment right now is brain surgery and Oliver has had multiple. We've seen Oliver lifeless and with little movement. We have watched this debilitating and life threatening condition nearly succeed at stripping Oliver of his childhood. He is our Warrior and we need a cure so this horrible condition doesn't take him from us one day! 

Oliver has a shunt device in his brain that keeps him alive. Right now a shunt is the only treatment for Hydrocephalus and that treatment requires brain surgery. But it's just a fix! And it's a fix that fails at an alarming rate! Sadly, the shunt has one of the highest failure rates of any surgical treatment. Oliver's first shunt was put in his brain when he was 3 months old but after a failure just 6 short weeks later, a second one was surgically implanted to save his life. Without these shunts, he could die. If either of the shunts begin to fail and our family isn't quick enough to see the signs, he could die. Without warning, in 2023, again Oliver’s shunt failed. Another life saving shunt surgery was performed. THIS is his life.

We participate every year in the Annual Charlotte Hydrocephalus WALK for a Cure to help fund research. Team Oliver WALKS because there are those who can't; Because of those who never got to walk, and Because of those who never will due to this debilitating condition.
