Charlotte WALK to End Hydrocephalus

Team Benjamin

Welcome to Our Team Page!

This event is very dear to our hearts as we are walking on behalf of Benjamin who lives with hydrocephalus and the reality that his shunt could fail at any moment. As you may know, hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years. Benjamin has endured 6 surgeries to date with his last one being in October of 2017. *  A shunt is not a cure as its consistent failures lead to multiple brain surgeries. This is unacceptable and this is WHY WE WALK!  We are so thankful that God has blessed Benjamin beyond what we can imagine. He is doing what he loves. Baseball is his hearts desire. If you haven't had the chance to see him play, you should come watch!  Please donate and help us reach our goal. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of not only Benjamin but others living with hydrocephalus.  We appreciate your continued support, donations, and prayers!!
