Welcome to Team Different World's page!

Our team's name (and T-Shirts) are based off of a phrase I heard from another hydrocephalus patient. "Its a different world inside our brains" it truly is,and that's why we raise funds and awareness.

This event is very dear to our hearts as we are walking on behalf of Meg and all others who are living with hydrocephalus and the constant fear that their shunt could fail at any moment.

You may not know about hydrocephalus,but it is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery (Meg's now had over 70) to implant and maintain a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years.

A shunt is not a cure as its consistent failures lead to multiple brain surgeries over a patient's lifetime, in some cases 100 or more.

This is unacceptable and this is WHY WE WALK.
