Welcome to Our Team Page: Knox Rocks!
Team Knox Rocks!
This year we will again be participating in the Walk to End Hydrocephalus! This event is very dear to our hearts as we are walking on behalf of our precious sweetheart, Knox, who is living with hydrocephalus and the constant fear that her ETV (Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy) brain surgery could fail at any moment. Knox has had 2 Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV) brain surgeries and other surgeries due to her hydrocephalus. She has experienced helicopter rides to our children’s hospital. Knox receives Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy every week. We pray each day that she will not need any more surgeries.
Hydrocephalus is a life altering, life threatening condition, caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain. The most common treatment for this condition is brain surgery to implant a medical device called a shunt, which has a 50% failure rate in children within the first two years. Neither a shunt, nor ETV, is a cure as its consistent failures lead to multiple brain surgeries over a patient’s lifetime, in some cases 100 or more. This is unacceptable and this is WHY WE WALK. No more BS (Brain Surgery)!
If you can, please click on Team Knox Rocks’s page below and click donate next to Knox’s name. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us find a cure and improve the lives of people living with hydrocephalus.
Thank you so much for supporting Knox!!!
