Each year, thousands of people across the country join the WALK to End Hydrocephalus volunteer team. From serving on planning committees and calling past participants to being HA ambassadors on WALK day and providing safety and support to participants, volunteers are a crucial component of successful events.

Who Can Volunteer?

Families, school groups, corporate groups, and individuals of all ages and abilities are encouraged and welcome to volunteer. There’s a job for everyone and all skill sets. HA is eager to partner with youth clubs, corporate, and service-oriented groups for help before, during and after HA events.

Community Service:

Serving as an HA volunteer can fulfill community service requirements.  Check with your local WALK Chair or the HA national office for information on documenting your community service hours.

WALK Participants may serve as Event Day Volunteers, too!

HA encourages WALK participants to consider serving as an event day volunteer for the WALK. WALK participants should register (either with their team or as an individual – non-team—WALK participant.)  When you register your own, personal WALK web page is automatically generated.  You can set your fundraising goal, share your story on your WALK web page and use HA’s great online fundraising tools to help raise money.  But instead of “walking the route” on the day of the event your ‘walk’ obligation is fulfilled by engaging in various event day volunteer activities. WALK Participant/Volunteers (and/or virtual WALK participants) also qualify for all WALK recognition gifts.
