Urgent Help Needed for Homeless Cats Stranded on Long Beach Jetty!
(Valid U.S. address is required - P.O. Boxes cannot be used)
Buddy and Paddy wait in anticipation every day for the kind rescuer who brings them food and water. Former house pets, these two loving cats have since been abandoned along with about a dozen other unlucky cats on a barren strip in Long Beach, California.
Until recently, they had a sheltered feeding area to help protect them from the harsh elements and guard their food from rain and seagulls, but due to a municipal directive, their shelter was dismantled.
Money has been raised by animal advocates to create a new sheltering area for the cats. Once the sheltering area is permitted and established by the city, the cats will be out of harm’s way and the adoption process can begin, enabling rescuers the time to place these wonderful cats in permanent homes.
1) Please send the letter at the bottom of this form to Elvira Hallinan, Acting Manager, City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine.
2) Then, please make a phone call as well.
Phone: (562) 570-3242.
Politely ask her to allow the creation of a cat sheltering area to spare the cats from being isolated on a jetty with cold rains and sandstorms expected in the coming months. Remember to keep all messages polite as angry messages may hurt our cause.
Finally, please consider adopting or fostering one of these wonderful cats, many of whom are former pets, who would love to leave their harsh outdoor lives for the comfort and love of a permanent home.
Contact Ellen at BeachCatss@yahoo.com if you want to help. Please email only if you have a sincere interest in adopting or fostering these cats with a caring home environment and please allow several days for a reply due to limited resources.
