Demand Sanctuary for Seattle Zoo's Elephants
(Valid address is required - P.O. Boxes cannot be used*)
This month we spotlight the Woodland Park Zoo, which earned IDA's Dishonorable Mention on our 2014 Ten Worst Zoos for Elephants list. You may have already helped by sending our Valentine's Day Card to Seattle's mayor and city councilmembers. Now, the corporate donors of Woodland Park Zoo need to hear from you. Please take a moment and simply ask them to request that the zoo send Bamboo and Chai to a sanctuary instead of another zoo where their needs will still not be met.
You may recall that, at long last, the Woodland Park Zoo finally announced the impending closure of its egregious elephant exhibit, succumbing to years of public pressure. IDA has long campaigned to help Bamboo, 47, and Chai, 35, the two remaining Asian elephants at this zoo. We are disappointed that the Woodland Park Zoo is insisting on sending Bamboo and Chai to another zoo rather than to an accredited elephant sanctuary.
We need your help!
Among the list of donors we're asking you to contact to intervene on behalf of Bamboo and Chai's welfare are: Alaska Airlines, Costco, Safeco, PCC, Cornish College, and Vulcan. They need to hear from you. Please help us send thousands of emails to those who have financial influence over the Zoo by submitting our letter below.
