Good news! Many of you signed our alert to support the bill that would end dog and cat consumption in the United States, H.R. 1406. We're pleased to report that the bill just passed the House of Representatives. We must act now to ensure this vital legislation passes the Senate to protect our faithful companions from being eaten by fellow Americans.
Please urge your senators to support H.R. 1406, which must pass the Senate this year or die. While it may be reintroduced next year and await another long round of congressional meetings, there's the chance it won't be reintroduced at all. Surprisingly, 44 of our 50 states don't prohibit the slaughter of dogs and cats for meat. Dogs and cats being eaten in the United States don't have time to wait.
Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation and Social Compassion Legislation helped write H.R. 1406 with Congressman Alcee Hastings, (D-FL). We are working with these organizations to pass this legislation now. Take action to support our efforts and those of local activists working endless hours to make this national law a reality.
