Acts 1:6–11; Ephesians 1:18–23
Without question, the most neglected area of study regarding the Lord Jesus Christ is His present ministry. Christians have a fairly firm understanding of His deity, incarnation, miracles, suffering and death, resurrection and return . . . but that period bounded by His departure and His second advent is vague in the minds of many. Once He left the earth, where did He go? What is He doing now? How is it different from what He did before He came the first time? Is there any significance connected with His being seated at the right hand of God the Father “in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 1:20)? These questions are neither insignificant nor merely theological. They have a powerful impact upon the universal church in general and upon each individual believer specifically.
