The Whale That Wouldn't Die VHS
The saga begins in 1857, when Yankee whaling captain Charles Melville Scammon discovered Laguna Ojo de Liebre, a Pacific gray whale calving lagoon in Baja California. At the same time, the gray whale was being decimated by shore whalers. The history and present day plight of these friendly mammoth mammals - twice near extinction and now under international protection - are examined.
Rare underwater film footage of feeding gray whales and of an angry cow defending her calf against a motorboat are two of the highlights.
