Stand for Welcome with Migrants and Refugees
We are asking each of you to take few minutes to call your Senators and Representative and tell them you support compassionate policies that welcome migrants and refugees - and urge them to let Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell know that they do, too.
You can easily call your members of Congress by calling the U.S Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate or House office you request. If you do not know the name of your Senators and/or Representatives, you can visit the official Senate and House websites to find out or fill out the form below.
Use this as a sample message to give during your call:
Hello, I’m NAME from CITY, STATE, and I’m calling to add my voice to the thousands of people across the country who care about helping vulnerable migrants and refugees.
I am very concerned about the barrage of legislation that has been introduced in both the House and Senate in recent weeks targeting the most vulnerable, including refugees, asylum seekers, and migrant families and children fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries.
I am also concerned that legislation is looking to weaken oversight and accountability of immigration enforcement agencies.
I am calling to ask the Senator/Representative to not support any bill that rolls back protections for migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers especially children and families.
And I ask that the Senator/Representative let Majority Leader McConnell/Speaker Ryan know that they do not support these dangerous bills coming to the floor.
Our country can do better than this. It is against my values and does not represent what it means to be an American or a person of faith.
Again I encourage the Senator/Representative to stand against legislation rolling back protections for migrants and refugees.
