Call on Your Representatives and Senators to Protect Dreamers and Support the Dream Act of 2017.

Stand For Welcome

Members of Congress are back from their holiday break and we need to continue building the pressure before January 19th, the deadline for Congress to pass a spending bill.

A clean DREAM Act must be included as part of that package. And we cannot accept any more excuses. Nearly 15,000 DACA recipients have lost their status already. Every day Congress fails to act, 122 more young immigrants become vulnerable to deportation.

We are asking each of you to take few minutes to call your Senators and Representative and tell them you support compassionate policies that welcome those seeking refuge and urge them to pressure Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell to speak out in support of the Dream Act of 2017.

You can easily call your members of Congress by calling the U.S Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate or House office you request. If you do not know the name of your Senators and/or Representatives, you can visit the official Senate and House websites to find out or fill out the form below.

Please take a few minutes and tell your elected officials to protect the rights of hundreds of thousands of Dreamers who have built their lives in America.

You can use this as a sample message to give during your call:

Hello, I’m [your name] from [your city, state], and I’m calling to add my voice to the thousands of people across the country who care about helping vulnerable migrant youth who have contributed to our communities, our economy, and our universities. As a person of faith, I am very concerned about the lack of protection and legal rights these youth will have once DACA disappears.

Im calling to urge [your Senator/Representative] to pass the DREAM Act by January 19th to ensure that protections for these vulnerable youth and valuable members of our society are not rolled back. And I ask that [your Senator/Representative] let Majority Leader McConnell/Speaker Ryan know that he or she does not support legislative solutions that will leave thousands of families and youth without any sort of protection or means to create a better life for themselves and their families. Our country can do better than this. It is against my values and does not represent what it means to be an American or a person of faith.

Again, I encourage [your Senator/Representative] to stand with Dreamers and create long-term legislative solutions for these vulnerable migrants. Thank you.

And, of course, feel free to add in your own words as you advocate for this crucial piece of legislation!
