Join us at North Park on Sunday, September 3 for the Race to Beat Women's Cancers 5K Run/Walk! For more than two decades, A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital have worked together as leaders in the fight against women's cancers. Your participation will play a major role in our efforts to advance women's cancer research and patient care. 100% of the event proceeds will fund women's cancer. patient care and research right here in Pittsburgh.

OUR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT OF WOMEN'S CANCER PATIENTS INCLUDES:

  • Learning why cancer develops, and then spreads
  • Preventing the development of cancer through evaluating and reducing a woman's cancer risk
  • Developing and testing new biomarkers to help predict and diagnose cancers
  • Providing integrative health services for cancer patients, including yoga, massage therapy, and acupuncture
  • Supporting and comforting patients in real-time through transportation solutions and childcare
  • Understanding why certain women's cancers resist hormone therapy, and identifying and testing new therapies
  • Utilizing new imaging techniques and integrating them into screening programs
