Increase the MA Conservation Land Tax Credit

The Conservation Land Tax Credit (CLTC) program offers an incentive for the donation of land in Massachusetts for conservation purposes. Approved land donations that fit CLTC criteria are eligible for a tax credit of 50% of the donation value, up to $75,000. The CLTC program is currently funded for up to $2 million a year, but the program is long overdue for a funding increase.

Ask your elected officials to support legislation that would make this long-awaited increase a reality. Incentivizing more land donations will in turn benefit the people and wildlife of Massachusetts while also improving our climate resilience.

To [Decision Maker],

In Massachusetts, the Conservation Land Tax Credit program (CLTC) offers an incentive for the donation of land for conservation purposes. The benefits of protecting open space are wide-ranging, from providing recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat to offsetting carbon emissions.

Right now, CLTC is funded for up to $2 million a year, but it's long overdue for a funding expansion that would allow for a larger number of these credits to be offered.

Incentivizing more land donations will in turn benefit the people and wildlife of Massachusetts while also improving our climate resilience.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
