We proudly ride in memory of mother and daughter, Irene and Danielle Wainer.
Danielle created this Cycle for Survival team in August 2019. She enthusiastically invited us to participate while in remission after many treatments, including a novel and successful CAR-T therapy. Danielle wanted to give back and honor her mother by helping fund the battle against rare cancers.
Irene Boudaghian Wainer passed away in August 2019, after her painful abrupt battle with glioblastoma, which she was diagnosed with in February 2019. Danielle passed in November 2019 from Burkitt lymphoma, after her June 2018 diagnosis; she fought her aggressive and painful disease with valiant persistence and grace.
As Danielle and Irene are no longer with us (although very much in spirit!), we honor them by continuing this noble initiative this year and hopefully, for many years to come.
We hope that by putting together this team, we can contribute to supporting the research and development and expand access to cutting-edge, life-saving treatments like CAR-T, which prolonged Danielle's life.
100% of every donated dollar funds innovative studies and clinical trials led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Discoveries made by MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, significantly benefiting patients everywhere.
"I am riding as a survivor of a long battle with Burkitt lymphoma, which I was diagnosed with in 2018. I also ride in honor of my mother, Irene Wainer, who my family lost to glioblastoma this year. I hope that by participating in Cycle for Survival, to be able to contribute, if even just a small bit, to supporting the research and development of and expanding access to cutting-edge life-saving treatments, like the one that saved my life - CAR-T - and others yet to be developed". -Danielle Wainer
